About The Artist:

Artist_PicLisa Cottone, an emerging artist, specializes in unique creations using wire and semi-precious stones.  Inspired by the blend of science and beauty, her art forms and jewelry offer a fresh perspective in design.

Lisa’s primary fascination is in observing nature. Before she decided to fully dedicate herself to such observation through the profession of art, Lisa sought to observe nature through the study of the human brain and in 2003 obtained her doctorate in Biopsychology.  With a strong desire to express her creative and artistic side more completely, she followed her bliss inearrings1to creating art and jewelry that brings her observations of nature to form.  The airy delicate structure of her Spider Web Collection and many of her jewelry pieces are achieved using a crochet technique and fine silver wire.  In addition to crochet, she also uses other techniques to construct structural depictions of universal phenomena. The artist describes her pieces as not only reflecting observations of structure in nature, such as spider or neuronal webs, but also of human nature and behavior.  The tradename "Julian's Jewels" was derived from Lisa's keen observation of a very intimate nature, her son Julian's fascination with her artwork.

About The Jewelry & Fine Art:

The artist's unique designs in jewelry and art are all carefully and thoughtfully hand-crafted to reflect the beauty of nature. The exquisitely crocheted jewelry pieces are created with fine silver wire and emulate the intricate pattern of a natural web in nature.  Designed as wearable art, our fine selection of earrings, necklaces, pendants and pins are lightweight and comfortable to wear, yet delicate and intriguing to the eye.

spider webFrom our Fine Art sector, the currently featured Spider Web Collection brings to form aspects of human nature and behavior that are so eloquently described in the Tao Te Ching.  As with all of Julian's Jewels, each hand-crafted piece is a unique creation inspired by the artist's personal journey through both the natural and scientific realms.
